Maldives

Oh yes. 10 days off from everything. No cars, no traffic, no work. Just surfing & eating & socialising & sleeping.
I loved it.
This was our first trip ever to the Maldives. It sounds super luxury, but if you stay in a local guesthouse and not on a resort island it is affordable and very very nice.
We stayed in a little guesthouse on a little island called Guraidhoo. We got fully spoiled with 3 meals a day and boat rides to the waves. Back home again I really struggle with cooking, because overt here it was so tasty and nice.
We where a group of 10 people from Denmark/Mauritius, Sweden, Spain & Germany…. totally mixed, but we had such a good time together. I was there on my birthday and after surfing the whole day we drove with the water taxi to a so called „party boat“ to get a drink.. it was very bizarre, because we where the only ones and it was kind of a little rip off, but super funny and the dance floor was on fire. Just as I like it!
The surfing was great the whole week and I really miss to jump in the water every day in such a beautiful place. As always there is a sad side: plastics & waste. It really makes me sad and leaves me sitting there with tears in my eyes. Every single person can make their contribution to not buy so much stuff wrapped up in plastics. But for sure something has to change globally. And because mankind is not really smart, somebody has to make a decision and force it.
Why is it not possible to get a deposit system on the Maldives for the plastic bottles? It seems that people starting to get aware of the problems, but it takes time and money… and while seeing all that plastics floating around, I´m not so sure if we even have that time any more.

It is a big discussion and you can for sure go even further (why do you have to fly there using an airplane, tourists are taking over that place….. there are so many excamples), but it´s always the same: somebody has to start at some point with one little thing and try to be strict. You can´t change the world in one day.
