Wind & Waves Festival Gran Canaria 2018
Little late, but better late than never. Here is my Pozo review :)
This summer I was a happy girl to finally go to Pozo again. I organised everything pretty early and even booked my flight tickets 5 weeks in advance. I guess thats a new record for me… and it felt pretty good.
As always I really look forward to go to Pozo. You are pretty sure to get a lot of sailing in. This year I only took the small kit, normally you never need sails bigger than 4.0. Pretty impressive! And it turned out to be super windy. I was once on my 3.6 and the other days I was sailing 3.0 and 3.3. I like it! Just got my freshly made Windlfüchter 70l board ready for Pozo and was very keen trying it there…. maybe a little bit worried as well. I felt a bit sorry to take the brandnew board to that rocky beach… but well! I think it survived pretty well and I loved the board there. Full control in every second, that is what I like.
The competition was a blast. This year the organizing ladies, the Moreno Twins, raised the whole thing to a new level and for the first time there was no difference in prize money for men & women. Wow! What an effort. As I had no proper seeding because of last years abstinence I had to wait for the double elimination to climb in the rankings. After 4 heats in a row in the double elimination the journey was over and I settled in 7th place. I really liked to compete again. Again it pushes & motivates me and the best thing is to sail with all the girls……
After a full week of competition I was pretty happy to leave the island quite awake & fit early morning on sunday…. coming home is the best thing in the world. And it always makes me thankful that we have the chance to do what we love!
